BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to participate in a mass college taking pictures that would have included a bombing at Berkeley High Faculty, police say.
The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no school that day.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive device supplies and threatening to commit a crime which will end in dying or nice bodily harm.
Police stated they received a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a taking pictures that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence.
Police did not say if the teenager was a pupil at Berkeley Excessive School.
Upon executing the search warrant, police stated they found components to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic items that could be used to create extra weapons.
At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"Faculty security stays a high precedence for the division," police mentioned in an announcement.
Details on whom the teen was making an attempt to recruit were not disclosed. Police said this case stays underneath investigation.
Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens advised the school's neighborhood that the district was in shut contact with police during this investigation.
After police confiscated the teenager's weapon elements, the district relied on police experience to assess any potential ongoing danger to its colleges. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts.
"As added precautions throughout this period, we alerted our administrative and safety workers about this investigation and, as is our standard follow, maintained shut contact with our BPD College Resource Officer on the Berkeley High School campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation period, we had been assured that this particular person did not pose a right away menace to the Berkeley High School community."
The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter.
The district might pursue disciplinary action in opposition to the coed.
In addition, a town corridor meeting titled: ' Speak to Children About Faculty Violence' offered by Alameda County Office of Training is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
