Man arrested in connection with “college shooter” signs present in 3 New Hampshire communities

BARNSTEAD, N.H. -- A person was arrested Friday after multiple indicators saying "college shooter" had been present in Barnstead, Epsom, and Pittsfield, New Hampshire, the state's Division of Security introduced. Guy Hanson, 61, of Pittsfield, faces a number of charges. 

An increased amount of cops were placed at colleges within the communities because of the indicators. Multiple schools initiated lockdowns as a precaution shortly after.

Hanson allegedly placed the indicators around the communities, the Division of Safety stated, however they determined there isn't a credible risk presently.

One such signal was written on a paper plate. The security department released a photograph of the plate but blurred part of it "to guard the integrity of the investigation." 

Hanson was arrested on a felony charge of legal threatening and three misdemeanor fees including false report back to regulation enforcement, false public alarm and prison threatening. He is being held in Merrimack County Jail pending a listening to scheduled for Tuesday.

No other suspects have been charged right now.
