BARNSTEAD, N.H. -- A man was arrested Friday after a number of signs saying "college shooter" had been found in Barnstead, Epsom, and Pittsfield, New Hampshire, the state's Division of Safety introduced. Guy Hanson, 61, of Pittsfield, faces multiple fees.

An elevated quantity of police officers were placed at colleges within the communities as a result of the indicators. Multiple faculties initiated lockdowns as a precaution shortly after.

Hanson allegedly positioned the signs across the communities, the Division of Safety stated, however they determined there isn't a credible risk presently.

One such sign was written on a paper plate. The protection department released a photo of the plate but blurred part of it "to guard the integrity of the investigation." 

Hanson was arrested on a felony charge of criminal threatening and three misdemeanor prices together with false report back to law enforcement, false public alarm and felony threatening. He's being held in Merrimack County Jail pending a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

No other suspects have been charged presently.
