Taliban leader orders women to wear all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the nation’s ladies to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives for the reason that Taliban seized energy.

“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is conventional and respectful,” said a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.

“Those ladies who are usually not too old or young must cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a purpose to avoid provocation when meeting men who aren't mahram (grownup close male kin),” the decree said.

It added that if ladies had no vital work outside it was “better they keep at house.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on women.
