Guardian with hid weapon accidentally shoots self while at Arlington ISD school, police say
Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary School was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a father or mother with a concealed weapon had his gun unintentionally go off, hitting the parent within the leg.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary College was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a dad or mum with a hid weapon had his gun accidentally go off, hitting the guardian in the leg.
The varsity had early release and students were released at the planned time of 12:10 p.m.
In accordance with police, the mum or dad, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His harm was not critical.
The college district stated White was inside the constructing, near the foyer space, and not within the hallway close to college students when the gun went off.
Police and college officials stated there was no menace made and the mum or dad did not have "malicious intent."

No students or workers were injured. The dad or mum was taken to an space hospital after being shot within the leg.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.
Within the two days because the Uvalde mass college capturing, there have been five circumstances in North Texas associated to guns introduced to schools or threats made.

Arlington parents stated their minds immediately thought of the worst after they have been notified.
No guardian ever desires there to be a purpose for them to get a textual content message saying their kid's school is on lockdown.
However since this week's deadly capturing at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, they can't help but assume the worst after they do.
"After I obtained the textual content message, I was like, ‘Oh my God, one thing is going to happen.’ I was shocked," guardian Karima Rasheed said.
Whereas most times, lockdowns are solely drills students have to participate in, Rasheed's son, Rami, said that knowing what occurred earlier this week made this lockdown totally different.
"I began seeing my classmates starting to cry and our trainer obtained a notification on their cellphone saying someone was in the constructing," he said.
Guns usually are not allowed on faculty property, and fogeys FOX 4 spoke with stated even when it was a mistake, the timing is simply horrible.
"What are we going to do? They need to go to high school, and clearly, statistically, it is unlikely to occur, but you by no means want to be the one statistic. What if it is your kids?" Matthew Mitchell mentioned.
Mitchell lives across the road from Duff Elementary. His daughters go to a different Arlington school.
"I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve got twin six-year-olds that go to a special Arlington faculty and every time I hear there is a lockdown or a college capturing, my heart jumps into my throat," he said.
Rasheed stated Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade students at Duff Elementary.
While driving her son to highschool within the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever occurred at his school.
"If one thing happened, you’ve bought to run anyplace that’s protected and hide," she told her baby.
While some say the incident in Uvalde is simply too fresh to speak politics, Mitchell stated something needs to be executed now.
"They need to speak about it, they want to campaign on it, they need to fundraiser on it, however they don’t wish to truly go any legal guidelines and do anything," he added.
