BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty taking pictures that might have included a bombing at Berkeley High Faculty, police say. 

The teen was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department said in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no school that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing harmful device materials and threatening to commit a criminal offense which will result in death or great bodily harm.

Police stated they acquired a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a shooting that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police did not say if the teen was a student at Berkeley High College.

Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they discovered parts to explosives and assault rifles, several knives, and digital items that might be used to create additional weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"Faculty security remains a excessive precedence for the department," police stated in a press release. 

Details on whom the teen was attempting to recruit were not disclosed. Police stated this case remains beneath investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens informed the school's group that the district was in close contact with police during this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teenager's weapon parts, the district relied on police expertise to assess any potential ongoing danger to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the coed's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions during this period, we alerted our administrative and safety workers about this investigation and, as is our customary observe, maintained close contact with our BPD School Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation period, we have been assured that this individual didn't pose a right away risk to the Berkeley High School group."

The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary action in opposition to the student. 

In addition, a town corridor assembly titled: 'How one can Talk to Kids About College Violence' supplied by Alameda County Workplace of Education is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
