A California district lawyer declined to file expenses Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reviews and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery towards one other passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in a press release.

"Our decision is that we are going to not file any fees in opposition to Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what happened earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file fees by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement companies "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
