Mike Tyson will not face expenses in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district attorney says

A California district legal professional declined to file prices Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its overview of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery towards another passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a press release.

"Our choice is that we are going to not file any prices in opposition to Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what happened earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement companies "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
