Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives for the reason that Taliban seized power.
“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.
“Those ladies who usually are not too outdated or younger should cowl their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a purpose to avoid provocation when meeting males who should not mahram (grownup close male kinfolk),” the decree stated.
It added that if women had no essential work outdoors it was “better they stay at home.”
Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed related restrictions on ladies.
