Mike Tyson will not face costs in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district attorney says

A California district legal professional declined to file charges Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police studies and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Office concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane while ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in an announcement.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement companies "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
