Gabe Kapler: ‘I don’t plan on popping out for the anthem going forward till I really feel better about the path of our nation’

Talking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going forward till I feel better concerning the path of our country."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked dad and mom attempting to organize to cost in to stop the shooter, including a father who realized his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our youngsters's freedom to go to school without having bulletproof backpacks and lively shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."

"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let it's identified via protest. The house of the brave ought to encourage this."

Kerr refused to discuss basketball ahead of Sport 4 of the Warriors' collection against the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute raising his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the last 10 days, we have had elderly Black individuals killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got kids murdered in school," Kerr instructed reporters initially of the press convention.

"When are we going to do something? I am drained. I'm so tired of getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated families which might be on the market ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Enough."
